critique-vs-criticism-1

Critique vs. Criticism

If you’re giving an honest and helpful critique, don’t say sorry. Own the comment and deliver it. It’s for their benefit, right? Or, are you actually sorry about helping someone?

If you say sorry after offering someone some insightful feedback, you’re not critiquing them, you’re criticizing them. And that’s different. And mean.

A critique should help someone. It should be an offer of advice, an offer of wisdom.

And, if you’re the recipient, you should be thankful. The critique is aimed at helping you get better, not feel worse. Take the critique to heart and make any necessary adjustments.
